Milicent Stafford married in the 5th year of King Richard I., a Staffordshire gentleman of ancient family, named Hervey Bagot. This Hervey paying a fine of 300 marks to the crown, had livery of his wife's inheritance, but in order to raise that sum he was obliged to sell the lordship of Drayton to the canons of St. Thomas, near Stafford. They had a son, Hervey, who succeeded his father.
